Adriane’s Senior Roadtrip

Some seniors choose a one hour or two hour photoshoot; but Adriane wanted something different. What started out as a few fun ideas, quickly became a mini roadtrip to North Dakota! My favorite thing about senior sessions is getting to create something totally unique to each client. This is their chance to be creative and express themselves in their own original way- and that is exactly what Adriane did!

Adriane’s biggest request was a record shop- which is SO COOL! If I could go back and do my senior photos, they definitely would have incorporated a records store too! Unfortunately, Alexandria doesn’t have any of those so we decided to take a little trip to Fargo, North Dakota to explore some of their record shops!

From there, we decided to map out a whole day- I mean if we were going to drive all that way, we figured we should try to squeeze in as much as we could! Soon we had a plan to hit the record stores, find the top floor of a parking garage overlooking the city, visit a plant shop, AND stop at a state park on the way home. It was quite the itinerary!

First up, the record store! We had a couple to choose from and shot at both, because why not?! Adriane was in her element and feeling herself and it made for some really fun photos!

From there, we found a parking garage roof that overlooked the city (I had some old photographer friends from the area give me some great recs). We got some of my favorite photos here! The wind was whipping (typical Fargo) but it made for some dreamy photos. We also brought along a disco ball and some fresh flowers to add to the fun!

On our way to the plant shop, we took a quick tour when we spotted a wall covered in vines and leaves. What a find! We pulled over and grabbed a couple snapshots- those were also some of my favorite captures of the day. The plant shop was gorgeous and HUGE with windows on all sides! I think we both could’ve stayed there all night, but we were chasing the sun and still had one more spot to hit before heading home.

Buffalo River State Park is a cute little park about 15 mintues out of Fargo. It has a very nostalgic feel to it, with gorgeous oak-covered hiking trails and the river that snakes through it. As the sun was setting, we captured the last of our photos here. It had been a very full day and we were exhausted. The last 30 minutes of sunshine was so peaceful- it was the perfect way to end the day.
